Summary0005121: MEGA 11 Crash
Description1. MEGA 11 crashes when using large data sets for phylogenetic analysis.
2. The software takes extremely long time, more than 32 hours, it keeps calculating, I let it run anyway, but at a point it crashes in the end.
3. The software does not does full CPU power, only few cores in my cpu show usage and that is also only upto 25%. And my 32 g RAM is also not been used. Max utilized was around 8.4 g (including other software in the system). I think MEGA should utilize all available CPU power.
4. I have used MEGA on both windows 10 (with an 8gb RAM computer) and on windows 11 (32 gb RAM computer). The program always crash on large data sets and takes 32 hours plus to calculate phylogentic tree before creashing.
Steps To ReproduceUse a large fasta file containing 3000 sequences. Run alignment and then try to construct phylogenetic tree construction using maximum likelihood method, default settings.
