0000519: available as .zip
Hi there
I would like it if you could make versions of MEGA available as .zip instead of installation files. I am not an administrator on my work computer so getting updates is a nightmare of going through our IT support which is IBM. Other software - which really isn't as user friendly - such as MAFFT i can download as a .zip and just extract without installation.
thanks
James

Dear Debbie,

MEGA4 (beta) version has been released, and the tutorial and online manual have been updated. You can download the MEGA4 at http://www.megasoftware.net/mega4 [^] website.

Hi James,

I am writing in response to your question regarding the MEGA software. The installer for MEGA provides an option to specify the installation location so you might try installing to your Documents folder. If that does not work for you, a workaround would be to install MEGA on a computer where you have privileges and then just copy the c:\Program Files\MEGA7 folder to a suitable location on your work computer. Then you could run MEGA by double-clicking the MEGA7.exe file in your copied MEGA7 folder.
