0000646: Problem in RAM allocation
During the alignment of 458 nucleotide sequences (around 7000 to 8000 bases for each of them) with MUSCLE algorithm under MEGA 7 software in Windows 10 Pro environment, I got an error specifying that I don't have enough memory on my computer, and the alignment is stopped before the end.
Here is my consideration : I have a 16 Giga RAM computer, and I follow the MEGA 7 analysis report window during the alignment process. As soon as the alignment reach around 2 giga of RAM (corresponding to 2000MB memory),
an error message specifying the lack of memory appear. But it still remains around 10 giga of RAM available (confirmed with the "Resource monitor" of Windows opened in the mean time MEGA7 is doing the alignment).
How can I configure MEGA7 software to make it use all the available RAM on my computer? (You will find the nucleotide sequences file attach to this request). Thanks.
1 - Open MEGA 7
2 - Click on "Align" tab and then "Edit/Build alignment"
3 - Select "Retrieve sequences from a file"
4 - Load the corresponding file ("All_PAVE_full_genome_OK.fa")
5 - Select all sequences and click on MUSCLE icon
6 - Select "Align DNA"
7 - By default, the "Max Memory in MB" is configured at 12714 MB (around 12 giga)
8 - Keep the default parameters and launch the alignment
9 - In the "M7 : Progress" windows, as soon as the "Memory Used (MB)" is displaying around 2000 MB, the program stop with the error message saying that I don't have enough memory on my computer.
