Summary | 0001548: Trouble adding NCBI protein sequences
Description | We use MEGA in our introductory biology labs, and just today (11/8), when students downloaded MEGA X, the steps we use to add sequences to the alignment editor do not function any more. Previous efforts this week seem to work, though the program is very slow on some computers and requires moving the window to make it restart.
Steps To Reproduce | Align>Query Database Change to Protein. Search: We choose histone h2a.1 Open the page for a sequence click Add Alignment. A series of 2 windows open, but these are not the ones I"m used to. The aignment editor never opens. We can't figure out where the sequence goes.
Additional Information | If there is documentation to show me how to make this work, I'd appreciate help finding it. Thanks!

Well, this is an open ended question... |

Hi Emily, I am writing in response to the bug report you recently submitted regarding the MEGAX software. Thanks for the feedback! The issue you found will be fixed in the next release. In the meantime, the workaround is to display the data in FASTA(text) format. You can do so by clicking the GenPept (Genbank for nucleotide data) link in the upper left of the page and selecting FASTA(text) from the options displayed. -- Best regards, Glen Stecher Institute for Genomics and Evolutionary Medicine igem.temple.edu |
