Summary0001613: Memory problem with ML
DescriptionI am trying to perform a maximum likelihood analysis of about 370 protein sequences of about 520 residues each. Mega7 (Mac) fails due to memory limitations (my machine has 16gb of memory). I am assuming that there is no way around this, as it appears that Mega7 does not support memory swapping with a HD or SSD? If these is any way around this limitation I would appreciate any help (it does not occur with max. parsimony). Thanks!

Hi Rodney,

I am writing in response to your question regarding the MEGA software. Unfortunately, MEGA7 for macOS is a 32-bit application and therefore can only access a limited amount of memory address space. The workaround is to download the 64-bit version of MEGA7 for Windows and run it in a virtual machine.
