Summary | 0000232: no documentation on group file
Description | I'm trying to run megacc on Linux in order to compute mean diversity in an entire population. It appears that this computation requires a group to be specified. However, there isn't any information on the format of the group file specified on the command line with "-g" in any documentation that I can find nor does the GUI provide a way to reverse engineer the format by saving a group file. I have to use the command line version because it will run in a script with 100s of files.

I was unable to verify this bug. I asked the user if he could supply his data file. |

This actually seems to be a problem with the file output writer as opposed to the internal variability determination routines. This only affects the format of the output file, variability calculations are still accurate. |

This has been fixed for the final release. |

Hi William, I am writing in response to your question regarding how to specify groups in MEGA. Groups should be specified in the MEGA formatted (.meg) input data file. This can be done manually or by using the GUI version of MEGA by opening your data file, using the Taxa/Groups dialog, and saving to a .meg file. An example of how groups are defined in the .meg file is attached (e.g. appending _{African} to a taxon name) -- Best regards, Glen Stecher |
