Summary | 0002758: After import sequences the editor introduces erroneus characters in MegaX
Description | When import fasta sequences file for to construct an aligment, the editor introduces erroneus characters at the end of some sequences like @ , . The imported file could not be used to make the phylogenetic analysis. I dont know if it issue is because the names of some sequences does not contains undescores.
Steps To Reproduce | Align -> Edit/Build alignment Retrieve sequences from a file Data -> Pylogenetic analysis Error: Invalid base found:@ (in line 220)
Additional Information | I worked with a large 133 proteins file. Always the same sequences were afected. I inspected the file with notepad++ looking for incorrect characters, but all was ok in the fasta file. When I open the same file with Mega7, there is no problem with the imported sequences. I send you the fasta file (generated with geneious 7)

Hello Bridget, I am responding to a bug report you submitted regarding MEGA5. Unfortunately our Mac version of MEGA5 is not as stable as we would like. We have had several users file similar bug reports and it seems that many (but not all) of them were able to resolve the issue by updating their installation of X11 http://xquartz.macosforge.org/trac/wiki [^] . If that doesn’t work, the best recommendation we can make is to run MEGA using Virtual PC, Parallels Desktop, or something similar. We apologize for the trouble and appreciate your patience as we work on producing a more stable version of MEGA5 for Mac users. Best regards, Glen Stecher |
