Description

I'm using the MEGA12 GUI on an PC Windows 11 laptop. I am able to construct Maximum Likelihood trees for 2 other sets of aligned entire protein sequences, but for this set of 34 aligned sequences, I keep getting an "Error (exception) in ML search thread: Aborted Operation" message whether I use just the alignment for the domain I'm interested in (194 aa) or the entire protein sequence (1694 aa).

I've attempted to vary the number of threads, the threshold for the adaptive bootstrapping, and the number of replicates for the standard bootstrapping. The crash always occurs when performing the first replicate.

Steps To Reproduce

1. Click Phylogeny icon and Construct/Test Maximum Likelihood tree. Choose MAFFT-aligned sequences saved as a MEGA file.
2. Parameters:
Adaptive Bootstrap, Threshold 5
Substitution Type: Amino acid, Model/Method: JTT
Uniform Rates
Use all sites
ML Heuristic method: NNI
Initial Tree for ML: Default- NJ/MP
Branch swap filter: None
Number of threads: 4
3. Start construction.
