Summary | 0002406: Not all RAM used
Description | Hello, using Mega7 for sequences aligment on a Virtual Machine, Mega7 does not use all the RAM available (only 4 Mo despite I indicated 64Mo) and stop with an error message that there is not enough memory for the calculus. Using MegaX, I have an error message "Error-Aligmment: MUSCLE Log File did not end properly, suggesting an unhandled exception" which seems related also to not enough RAM according to forums. Please could you help me to solve this problem?

Hi Aurelien, I am writing in response to your question regarding MUSCLE alignment using the MEGA software. Unfortunately, the developer of MUSCLE only distributes a 32-bit version for Windows so it is not able to utilize all the memory available on your system. To get around there are a couple of options: If you have access to a 64-bit Linux or macOS computer you can download a 64-bit version of MUSCLE for that system and run MUSCLE there You can use something like MAFFT which is designed for aligning large sequence data Best regards, Glen Stecher Institute for Genomics and Evolutionary Medicine igem.temple.edu |
