Summary | 0002037: MEGAX very slow on macOS |
Description | I'm running MEGA 10.1.8 on macOS Mojave 10.14.5. When I open and edit any alignment, the overall experience is very slow and unresponsive. There is a noticeable delay when clicking on almost anything. Selecting a sequence name in the species column takes a full second to take effect. Clicking a toolbar item has a similar lag (though hovering seems fine). Scrolling is also slow and choppy. The only task that feels properly responsive is selecting nucleotides/amino acids in the alignment. This general unresponsiveness makes the program virtually unusable. |
Steps To Reproduce | On macOS Mojave, open an alignment in MEGA X. Click on things and note the general unresponsiveness. |
Additional Information | The issue is not necessarily limited to the alignment viewer, but that is where I noticed it. I don't know whether the program would work better on Catalina, but I am hesitant to upgrade, as I would then lose the option of using MEGA7 which runs better. |
