Summary | 0000212: Showing branch lengths in bootstrap consensus tree
Description | I have found a way to display branch lengths for a bootstrap consensus tree even though, as mentioned in this FAQ question http://www.megasoftware.net/webhelp/faqs_rh/why_can_t_i_display_branch_lengths_for_a_bootstrap_consensus_tree_.htm, [^] it should not be possible and is inaccurate.
Steps To Reproduce | 1) Have a tree open with bootstrapping performed. 2) While in the Original Tree tab, go to Options from the View menu and click OK without changing any settings. 3) The view of the tree will change and if branch lengths in the original tree were being shown they will all display 0. The change in the tree view is only graphical and the branches are not where they are shown to be. Redrawing the tree will fix these problems. 4) With the branch lengths showing in the original tree, going to the bootstrap consensus tree will have branch lengths of 0 displayed. 5) If you go back to the Original Tree tab and go to Options and hit OK once again, going to the bootstrap consensus tree with branch lengths being shown on the original tree will now show actual values that are similar to the branch lengths seen in the original tree.
Additional Information | 1) Whenever you go to the option menu and hit OK while in the original tree tab the tree will be redrawn with a different view like described in step 3 of how to reproduce with the only difference is the branch lengths not being altered. 2) After going into the option menu and hitting OK for the first time while in the Original Tree tab, doing the same while in the Bootstrap Consensus Tree tab will cause the Original Tree to be drawn instead. Causing the tree to be redrawn in anyway will revert it back to the bootstrap consensus tree.
