Summary0000257: align by clustalW(codons)
DescriptionDear Sir/Madam,
I am a user of mega7.0. It is wonderful software. There are some options when aligning multiple sequences. I wonder what is the difference between ‘align by clustalW’ and ‘align by clustalW(codons)’.
I look forward to hearing from you soon.
Sincerely,
Weiyang Chen, Ph.D.

Hi Weiyang,

I am writing in response to your question regarding the MEGA software. When aligning by codons, the data is first translated to amino acids, aligned, then untranslated. The regular alignment option just aligns by nucleotides.
