Summary | 0005713: Fasta header names change |
Description | When loading in the sequences from .fasta file into MEGA alignment viewer the header names are processed in a way that removes the underline. ex. WP_189318088.1 becomes WP 099680089.1 this behavior introduces unwanted spaces which otherwise are often reserved as delimiters between sequence ID code, Taxa, Description, Name. |
Steps To Reproduce | -Open alignment tool and select reading in .fasta from user file.
-Read in .fasta file with sequence headers that contain underlines (download any from uniprot.com).
-Compare MEGA displayed sequence ID with the raw header in the initial .fasta file. |
Additional Information | This behavior leads to non-standard .fasta files that are barely viable for other downstream tools/use cases. |
