Summary0000700: Can I use nohup in MEGA-CC?
DescriptionI am a Chinese user who starts to learn Linux. My Linux system is CentOS and I just download other linux version. After 'tar' the package, I write alias in .bashrc but I failed to use nohup function to make MEGA-CC working behind.
When comparing over 20 sequences of gene with clustalW, I feel it really important to use 'nohup &' because MEGA-CC only use 6% of my CPU (Can it work in multithreading?) and I have to wait long time. I want to use ramaining cores to do docking or else. Please help.

Hi Shijie,

I am writing in response to your question regarding the MEGA-CC software. Yes, you can use nohup to run megacc on Linux. Just call it like:

nohup megacc -a settings.mao -d seqdata.fas

As far as multithreading, the ClustalW implementation in megacc is not multithreaded. If you have an alignment that is taking a long time you can use the MUSCLE option in megacc instead of ClustalW.
