Summary | 0000721: MEGA X Redhat/CentOS 7 install bugs
Description | Hello, I've just installed MEGA X on my main Linux machine, and ran into two small problems. The first is that the symlink the rpm dropped into /usr/local/bin pointed at the /home build directory of the user that compiled the rpm (which doesn't exist on my system) instead of the binary located at /usr/lib64/megax/megax, preventing the program from launching after install. I deleted and recreated the symlink pointing to the correct location and the program was able to launch. Typically executables should located in /usr/bin and /usr/local/bin and shared objects should be in /usr/lib64 and /usr/local/lib64. The second is that it threw the error "failed to initialize Chromium: An operating system call failed" at startup. I tried installing chromium from yum thinking it may have been a forgotten dependency in the rpm file, but that didn't make it stop.
Steps To Reproduce | Install MEGA X on a CentOS machine without the user directory used to build the rpm file.
Additional Information | I also get these messages on the command line when closing MEGA X: [TGtk2WidgetSet.Destroy] WARNING: There are 21 unreleased DCs, a detailed dump follows: [TGtk2WidgetSet.Destroy] DCs: 00007F8E6D7D3E40 00007F8E6D7D3C40 00007F8E6D7D3440 00007F8E6D7D3240 00007F8E6D7D3040 00007F8E6D7D2E40 00007F8E6D7D2C40 [TGtk2WidgetSet.Destroy] WARNING: There are 21 unreleased GDIObjects, a detailed dump follows: [TGtk2WidgetSet.Destroy] GDIOs: 00007F8E67081240 00007F8E670808C0 00007F8E670C6EC0 00007F8E670C6E40 00007F8E670C6DC0 00007F8E670C6D40 00007F8E670C6CC0 [TGtk2WidgetSet.Destroy] gdiFont: 21

Hi Sam, I am writing in response to the bug report you recently submitted regarding the MEGA X Software. Thanks for the feedback! We have updated the .rpm for MEGA X to correctly set the symbolic link for the launch script. The updated .rpm can be downloaded from: https://www.megasoftware.net/releases/megax-10.0.0-1.x86_64.rpm [^] Thanks again for your help! -- Best regards, Glen Stecher Institute for Genomics and Evolutionary Medicine igem.temple.edu |
