Summary | 0000923: not opening files from different platforms
Description | Dear Support Team, I am using Mega under different platforms, Ubuntu, Windows 7 32 and 64 bit. I have came across the problem that I make an alignment under one platform and i cannot open it under a different one. For large alignments I leave the computer on for days and unfortunately I cannot use it only on the computer where I made the alignment. Is there a specific reason why I canot use the file made under Windows 7 32 under 64 bit? Thank you for your help! Regards, J. Agoston

Hi Janos, I am writing in response to your question regarding the MEGA software. The MEGA session files are binary files and so a floating point value written on a 32-bit system differs from one written on a 64-bit system so session files should not be used across platforms. To use your alignment on another platform, simply export it to a text file (.meg or .fas) which can be used on any system. -- Best regards, Glen Stecher Institute for Genomics and Evolutionary Medicine igem.temple.edu |
