Summary0002371: No common sites
DescriptionCurrently Im trying to create a phylogenetic tree from recent algal paper just to see if I can repeat the results to understand the program. Im coming up with "no common sites" when trying to run the analysis. This seems somewhat odd though because when I use another phylogenetic tree software, its able to handle all the data. I would still like to include all the sequences I'm using since I'm trying to recreate the study specifically using this software. Do you have any recommendations?

Hi Lucas,

I am writing in response to your question regarding the MEGA software. In MEGA, distance-based methods require at least one common site between each sequence pair. To work around this, you can remove sequence(s) that share no common sites or use Maximum Likelihood or Maximum Parsimony tree construction methods.
